I've lived in South for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
- The outdoor recreation scene is improving

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Lakewood area are decent. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
