Moving to Gilbert — what should I know?

I got a job offer in Gilbert, AZ and I'm seriously considering the move. I'm coming from a small city. A few questions:

1. Which neighborhoods should I look at for a $1600-2400 budget?
2. How's the commute situation?
3. Is the crime rate accurate for day-to-day life?
4. Any hidden costs I should know about?

Thanks in advance!

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 7/10.

Been here 20 years. The city has changed a lot but overall for the better.

I'd add that healthcare options are better than most cities this size. Otherwise spot on!

Check out the Midtown area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is the west side tends to be more affordable. Makes a big difference.

Coming from San Francisco, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are slightly more expensive but housing makes up for it.

Check out the Highland Park area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

I work in logistics and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 4 months.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Don't sleep on Pine Grove. It's up and coming and still affordable.
