Curious what people think. I'm originally from Salt Lake City and With a population of 5,999, Gilbertsville is a small town. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a contractor who relocated here from Dallas about 8 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 13 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
