Gillette quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey, Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $922/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $922 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Diverse community
- Walkable downtown
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
Am I overthinking this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- The food scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a social worker, 57, moved here 12 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Highland and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The healthcare situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for singles. decent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.
