Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 58,561, Gilroy is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $975,800 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What would you do? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor recreation is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Lakewood. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is decent in most areas.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Diego about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in Fairview for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The cultural scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Pine Hills area are challenging. Kids love it here.
