Things that make Gilroy unique

Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Median household income is $131,554, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $2,270/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $131,554 in Gilroy. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Fairview) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
