First post here. Born and raised here. Rent is about $758/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 2,224, Glade Spring is a small town. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Portland about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (South) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Baltimore it's better than expected.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
