Moving to Gladstone for work -advice?

Curious what people think. Just moved here 6 months ago and Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. The city has invested a lot in new development. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks for reading. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Used to live on the Westside side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 7 years. Moved from Phoenix for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Tampa it's excellent.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Cedar Grove area are excellent. Kids love it here.
