I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $217,900, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Does this match your experience? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from San Diego about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
