The good and bad of living in Gladstone

Curious what people think. It's a a smaller city city with about 27,069 people. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,095 for rent here. Poverty rate is 7.8%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $72,134, which feels about average for the area. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Nice parks and trails
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited nightlife
- Far from major airports
The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Maple Ridge area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is decent in most areas.

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
