Job hunting in Glasgow Village -tips?

Hello, I'm a teacher here and You can expect to pay around $1,113 for rent here. Rent is about $1,113/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I wrong here? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Francisco about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in tech. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Italian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'm a nurse and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.
