Relocating to Glasgow Village, MO -pros and cons?

With a population of 5,491, Glasgow Village is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Glasgow Village sits at 916.8 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely underrated and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Old Town) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Uptown for 14 years. Moved from Boston for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is decent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Uptown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited entertainment options. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Fairview for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- The weather scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
