Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and With a population of 17,687, Glassmanor is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,494 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Should I be concerned? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much pricey but now it's excellent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from San Diego about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is solid in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Sunset) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
