As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much stable but now it's pretty good.

Came here for retirement and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The dating scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is improving
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
