Glastonbury Center quality of life -am I missing something?

First post here. We have two kids and Homes are going for about $367,000 on average. Rent is about $1,703/month for a decent place. With a population of 7,860, Glastonbury Center is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,703 for rent here. The median home value here is around $367,000, which seems about average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas
- Walkable downtown
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Limited nightlife
- Poor road conditions
I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 13 years. Moved from Tampa for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Dating scene is rough. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a sales manager and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is weather. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much affordable but now it's excellent.
