How much do you pay for rent in Glen Ellyn?

Random thought, Military spouse here. It's a a smaller city city with about 28,270 people. The median home value here is around $522,600, which is pretty steep. The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Glen Ellyn sits at 71.6 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Is this normal for Glen Ellyn? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for weather and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cost of living is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
