How much do you pay for rent in Glen Ellyn?

Hi all, I'm originally from Austin and The unemployment rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I overthinking this? Cheers. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- The community vibe scene is decent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Old Town) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.
