Weekend activities in Glen Ellyn?

Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Indian.

No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from San Francisco about 3 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..
