Moving to Glen Ridge for work -advice?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Glen Ridge sits at 52.8 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Should I be concerned?

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much affordable but now it's tough.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to Chicago it's tough.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
