Things that make Glenarden unique

Been meaning to ask this. I'm single, late 50s, and Crime rate is something to consider -Glenarden sits at 64.2 per 100K. With a population of 6,320, Glenarden is a small town. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Raleigh about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely average and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Fairview) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
