Best neighborhoods to rent in Glendale?

Average temperature is around 74°F, so it's warm year-round. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this?

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Indian places. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 4 years. Moved from Baltimore for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is improving - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Homeless population growing downtown. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 53, moved here 3 years ago from LA. I've lived in Downtown and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 8 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.
