Considering Glendale vs Chicago — help me decide

I grew up here but left for a while. Rent is about $1,397/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $70,139 in Glendale. Median household income is $70,139, which feels about average for the area. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. TIA! It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in legal. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
