Glendale is underrated, change my mind

Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and With a population of 250K, Glendale is a mid-size city. It's a a mid-size city city with about 250K people. Rent is about $1,397/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 12.0%, which is around average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Let me know your thoughts. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Chicago about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. No regrets on my end..
