Most overrated things about Glendale

Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. Household incomes average around $84,262 in Glendale. Average temperature is around 62°F, so the weather is moderate. The median home value here is around $1,043,900, which is pretty steep. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Nice parks and trails
- Good schools
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space

Came here for quality of life and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The traffic is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if cultural scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Springfield for 1 years. Moved from Denver for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is decent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Limited entertainment options. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a pharmacist, 50, moved here 7 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Diverse dining options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The job market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for young professionals. average vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
