Glendale Heights is underrated, change my mind

The median home value here is around $249,000, which is actually reasonable. It's a a smaller city city with about 32,864 people. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value school system, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in engineering here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The healthcare is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 6 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..
