Hey folks, I'm a college student here and Household incomes average around $118,438 in Glendale. The median home value here is around $394,000, which seems about average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I've lived in West for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- The cost of living scene is average
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in marketing here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is decent. No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely decent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Westside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.
