Worst things about Glendale nobody talks about

Hey everyone, I'm a college student here and The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Glendale sits at 258.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Growing food scene
- Diverse community
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Hot summers
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
Let me know your thoughts. Any help is appreciated. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in East for 8 years. Moved from Seattle for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is solid - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. East schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Dating scene is rough. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I work in hospitality here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is underrated. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Austin it's challenging.
