Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $137,105, which feels pretty solid for the area. Poverty rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $570,700, which is pretty steep. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The school system scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Tampa about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..
