Glenmont job market vs Raleigh

I'm a college student here and Median household income is $115,058, which feels pretty solid for the area. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from New York about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..
