Quick question about Glenshaw

OK so I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 9,194, Glenshaw is a small town. The median home value here is around $241,300, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $91,219, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Glenshaw sits at 262.5 per 100K. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Thoughts? Any help is appreciated. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Eastside. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Oak Park for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Diverse dining options
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 2 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..
