Housing market in Glenvar Heights right now

Hi all, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $71,067, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 77--F, so it's warm year-round. With a population of 18,488, Glenvar Heights is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,883 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Low taxes
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Chain restaurants dominate
Anyone in a similar situation? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely excellent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely underrated and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Riverside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 15 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
