Hey folks, I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $1,883 for rent here. Median household income is $71,067, which feels about average for the area. It's a a small town city with about 18,488 people. Homes are going for about $496,200 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I've lived in North for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The housing market scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

Came here for weather and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The outdoor recreation is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

I'm a contractor and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 36, moved here 4 years ago from Seattle. I've lived in Greenfield and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited entertainment options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The healthcare situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for retirees. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Seattle, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
