Housing in Glenview compared to Tampa

First post here. Rent is about $2,027/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. It's a a smaller city city with about 47,682 people. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Has anyone dealt with this? Any help is appreciated. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Moved here from LA about 15 years ago. it's not perfect but it works for me. Still getting used to community vibe but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from San Diego about 9 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
