Is Glenview walkable?

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Glenview sits at 105.1 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 2.1%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Has anyone dealt with this? Cheers. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The traffic is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The pet-friendliness is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Minneapolis about 13 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 49, moved here 11 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in North and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The nightlife situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for families. tough vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want pet-friendliness, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 4 years. Moved from San Francisco for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Far from beaches/mountains. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Fairview for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- The weather scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been in Cedar Grove for 14 years. Moved from San Francisco for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Cedar Grove schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Winters are long and cold. Limited entertainment options. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
