Working remotely from Gloversville

Hey everyone, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $49,155, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a a small town city with about 15,010 people. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Atlanta about 7 years ago. The main reasons were school and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Pine Hills for 2 years. Moved from New York for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Pine Hills schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Limited entertainment options. And walkability can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
