Hey folks, I'm a teacher here and Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Does this match your experience? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've lived in Fairview for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- The weather scene is solid
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I work in government here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Houston about 12 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2020 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.
