The good and bad of living in Golden Gate

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $64,767, which feels about average for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Let me know your thoughts. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Dallas about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..
