Job market in Goldsboro for tech?

Hey folks, Crime rate is something to consider -Goldsboro sits at 783.3 per 100K. The median home value here is around $173,700, which is actually reasonable. It's a a smaller city city with about 33,448 people. Median household income is $47,005, which feels on the lower side for the area. You can expect to pay around $956 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I overthinking this? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely excellent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Westside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2021 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
