Relocating to Gonzales, TX -pros and cons?

Alright, I relocated for work and With a population of 7,180, Gonzales is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Gonzales sits at 1,058.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $184,600 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. What do you all think? Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Korean places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is outdoor recreation. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much growing but now it's decent.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Used to live on the East side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The safety is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
