Life in Goodhue as a young professional

Been meaning to ask this. I'm a teacher here and It's a a small town city with about 1,261 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely challenging and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
