Affordable areas near Goodyear?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a teacher here and With a population of 103K, Goodyear is a mid-size city. It's a a mid-size city city with about 103K people. Rent is about $1,848/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Lots of new development
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- High property taxes
Is this normal for Goodyear? Appreciate any input. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Asian.

No regrets on my end..
