Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely excellent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Westside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 42, moved here 8 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Highland and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The safety situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for couples. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 47, moved here 8 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Sunset and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The job market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Sunset: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The housing market scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Dallas about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from San Diego about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the East side, now on the Riverside side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
