It's a a mid-size city city with about 103K people. Homes are going for about $441,900 on average. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Austin about 15 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is tough.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value weather, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Highland) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Eastside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The outdoor recreation scene is average
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
