Is Goodyear walkable?

So, Should I be concerned? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 50, moved here 6 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Oak Park and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The food scene situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for singles. decent vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely improving and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Riverside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much growing but now it's improving.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Salt Lake City it's challenging.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Nashville about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..
