Pros and cons of Goodyear after 11 years

We're a young couple and Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. Household incomes average around $101,814 in Goodyear. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Appreciate any input. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I'm a social worker and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 10 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I work in construction here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is average. Hope this helps!.

I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
