Been meaning to ask this. I'm a 28-year-old accountant and Homes are going for about $279,500 on average. Average temperature is around 67--F, so the weather is moderate. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Am I overthinking this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

The food scene here is hit or miss. Tons of great Vietnamese places. it's been a really good experience overall.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Downtown for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The walkability scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..
