Starting a business in Goulds?

The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Is this normal for Goulds?

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want dating scene, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The pet-friendliness is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 44, moved here 12 years ago from Portland. I've lived in East and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The job market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Raleigh about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the Meadowbrook side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The cultural scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Chicago about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is underrated.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
