OK so Born and raised here. Rent is about $1,162/month for a decent place. Median household income is $88,634, which feels pretty solid for the area. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely challenging and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community vibe is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.
