OK so I'm originally from New York and Rent is about $958/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 58,882 people. Average temperature is around 41--F, so bundle up in winter. Homes are going for about $243,300 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development.
