Thinking about relocating to Grand Forks from Charlotte
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I work in marketing and Crime rate is something to consider -Grand Forks sits at 288.9 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Miami about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
